When a devastating Electromagnetic Pulse is detonated over the USA, it leads to a total loss of power and a complete and catastrophic breakdown of everyday society. As the country descends into chaos and anarchy, one man makes an epic decision in order to save his loved ones and find a place of safety.
From their home in McKinney, Texas, Lance prepares to lead his wife and three young sons, along with an assorted group of friends and neighbors, on a long and treacherous journey across the country, towards the only point on the map he can think of that will provide them with the security they need.
Their journey promises to be long and arduous, and Lance will discover more about life than he ever thought possible as they find that desperate circumstances most often bring out the best, and sometimes the worst, in human nature.
But the sprawling Saddle Ranch is in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and between them lies over 800 miles of harsh terrain, now filled with desperate, and oftentimes wretched, hostiles.
Can Lance navigate a safe passage to the promise of a better life for them all? Or has he taken on much more than he bargained for?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great first story of a series

Realistic people and scenarios. The characters came to life and the story wasn't over the top with gore and murder but enough to keep it exciting. The story also included a dog, Bonus!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book

The characters are all real to life. Very well developed and interesting. I like the fact that graphic violence and sex is not in your face or used to build the story. Also, no bad language or unnecessary swearing. Faith in God is not made to seem odd or unusual. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Families First was Fantastic

This was an enjoyable story line. I liked it because the author was able to keep your attention throughout without gratuitous violence and sex. Yes, there is violence but it was in context of the story. Very good book! Give this story a chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward to the next book!

The story line in this apocalyptic book is well developed and very exciting. This story is especially important to me, as we used to live in McKinney and now live right past McKinney in the country. It was really enjoyable reading, as I am very familiar with the Texas streets and locations referenced within the story. I highly recommend this book to all fans of the apocalyptic genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent example of Christian Post Apocalyptic fiction

Not very many PA stories so strongly emphasize Christian values and prayer. It is a good post apocalyptic story line with many interesting characters, can't wait to see where the story goes. I am thankful to the Lord for leading me to this author.
